SLED SPRINT
AAPBA Weight Pull Sports-Sled Sprint
Dogs pull their own body weight to test power
The Weight Pull Sports-Sled Sprint is without a doubt one of the most exciting and attention grabbing dog
sports the AAPBA offers. Strength, speed and determination plays a big role in this event. Quite simply the dog
who can pull a sled equal to their body weight the fastest for a distance of 60 feet is the winner. Dogs are
divided into 2 classes Rookies and Champions. This electrifying event promotes the speed and vigor of a dog
which has won the enthusiasm and attention of strict competitors as well as entry level weight pullers. Who has
the fastest most powerful dog? Welcome to the Sled Sprint!

Here is a brief run down of the order of events.
Your dogs name is called. Approach the sled sprint area and wait till judge or assistant gives you the "ok" to
enter the track and approach the starting line. Dogs must have leash and collar applied and pull harness on when
approaching the Sled Sprint area. Connect your dog harness to the sled. Begin the 60ft sprint. Judge will write
down time. You have the option of running your dog twice.

Sled Sprint Equipment
The Sleds and Weight.
All sled sprint pulls are conducted on a 60ft track made of either natural terrain or astroturf. Sleds are welded
steel and can withstand 300 lbs. of weight. Weight is usually made up of round plates of pre weighted steel or
concrete. The time a dog finishes 60ft pulling their body weight is clocked by a stopwatch.

Sled Sprint Officials
Sled Sprint Judge - stands on the side of the track and marks the time of finished run. The judge reinforces safety
and rules; the judge's decision is final.
Sled Sprint Steward - helps the judge keep score and may also help hold the sled in place before dog runs while
also braking and pulling back weight to starting line and loading weight for the next competing dog.
