STARTING AN AAPBA DOG CLUB

AAPBA CLUBS ARE FORMED FOR MANY REASONS
To unite fellow dog fanciers in their communities that share common beliefs, their love of dogs, dog sports and a place to gather. Clubs members
educate and train each other and those around them, hold competitions and promote good animal husbandry. Clubs are a great place to meet
breeders, competitors and others in their communities that share common interest. Dog clubs are a must to develop communities, give dog lovers a
place to get together and enjoy the company of their dogs. All clubs have an open door policy to lovers of all animals and most certainly welcome
non-dog owners into any of our dog clubs.

TYPES OF AAPBA CLUBS.
AAPBA Clubs can either be single-breed, all-breed clubs or events clubs such as Agility, Conformation, Obedience, Weight Pulling, Terrier Racing,
Den master or dog sports in general any or all events the AAPBA Registry offers. All clubs should:

Step 1. Starting a club.
There are a few requirements the All American Premier Breeds Administrations-AAPBA asks of any newly formed club and it's members.

Requirements

1. The AAPBA also requires a completed "Newly Formed Club Application" to be turned into the AAPBA Registration Office. Formed can be printed
here
.

2. The AAPBA requires all members of the newly formed club to read, print, sign and submit a copy of the AAPBA Show code of ethics and Code of
ethics to the AAPBA with a statement including information on who they are, what position they hold in the club (if any) and when they joined. The
AAPBA Code and Show Ethics forms can be accessed at the following website address: http://www.aapba.com/ethics.html

3. The AAPBA require that all members register their canines with the AAPBA or update any information on current AAPBA or AAPBA 2
registrations, for example name changes, earned titles, address changes, contact info etc…
All decisions including name of club must be voted by club members.

Step 2. Tips and helpful hints.
There are things to consider before taking that step into forming a new dog show club.

Things to think about

1. Volunteer, volunteer, volunteer.
That is the raw basic ingredient that a club needs in order to get moving. The AAPBA highly encourages members to participate in all functions,
meetings, fundraisers and social events the club holds. Being a willing participant and volunteer in all club activities while remaining professional and
positive is the absolute best way to get other members to do the same. Set an example. It is important to know that it takes as little as 4 people to
successfully run a club and throw a show and fundraisers. Keeping the following reasons for being a dog enthusiast in mind helps you and others to
remain focused on the tasks at hand. The reasons you are volunteering your time to help out the club in any way is all for canines, for sport and most
important for fun.

2. Staying Active.
Clubs succeed by staying active and energetic. Fundraising, dog showing, meetings or even taking advantage of any surrounding or situation your in
to mention your dog club and hobby are fantastic ways to stay enthused and excited about your club. If getting together every weekend to practice
showing dogs or to simply socialize is a great way to practice good "gathering" habits, organization skills and familiarize with fulfilling commitments
while getting a good feel or conclusion on what members have more free time than others and who is slightly more dedicated to the club and the dog
lover awareness.

3. Educating.
Being part of a club sometimes requires you to be an educator on the world and lives of dogs and dog showing. Take the following tips into
consideration when education or discussing dogs to the people. Always be kind, approachable and knowledgeable. Be open and willing to talk
anytime anywhere about dogs. Be prepared to share and listen to stories about people and dogs. Always be prepared and up to date on show
dates, functions, price information while keeping yourself informed on the current or latest news on dogs and the canine world. Try to be
knowledgeable about the lives and health of dogs and keep handy resources available like www.aapba.com and other important dog websites or
names of reputable and local veterinarians and important phone numbers. As it is to all things in life there is an opposite of your interest and love to all
things dog. It is beneficial and in the best interest of dogs and the club to stay thoughtful and considerate towards people and always remain
professional and understanding of other peoples way of life or experiences. No matter what transpires end every conversation or situation on a
positive manner.

Step 3. Let's Begin.
You've studied, memorized and executed steps one and two and are prepared to begin. Good job!

It's show time! Your ready and on your way to throwing your first dog show. After the club has voted on the
